My Story
My name is Jennifer and I am the owner of The Wheatless Oven. est Oct '22. I practically grew up in the kitchen with my mother, grandmother, great grandmother and even my dad baking goodies at every holiday, birthday and family event. I had always had the dream to run a bakery of my own one day. However, in 2020 I found that the cause of many of my health issues growing up was due to a wheat allergy, untreated celiac disease and my absolute love of these deadly carbs.
If you are here, you know how awful, dry, and hard most Gluten Free Baked Goods are that can be purchased in stores. After having to deal with this for 6 months after my diagnosis, it spurred my dream into action. I cannot live happily without good carbs!
I have since been working through re-learning everything I knew about baking, researching how non-wheat flours are combined and work together to replicate wheat flour as well as testing out and modifying my old recipes to create something that tastes as good as - if not better - than their wheat equivalent.
I want to share my Gluten Free goodies with the community here in the Brainerd Lakes Area in the hopes to one day open up a Gluten Free Bakery in Downtown Brainerd where everyone, celiac, gluten sensitive, and your average consumer can all enjoy some delicious gluten free baked goods.
Safety Notice: My Home is almost completely wheat free but has not contained any wheat flour since it's remodel in 2021. None of my utensils/pans/bowls/mixers etc have come in contact with wheat/gluten in their lifetime and I do not purchase ingredients that even have the label "Made in a facility that also processes wheat".
I do still buy gluten containing baked goods for my children which are stored in a separate area and have their own pans etc and we are very careful to keep them separate as I have severe reactions even from the smallest crumb - which is why I am confident in my ability to provide a safe, gluten free treat for you.
